Like clockwork, TDE’s rap prophet Kendrick Lamar drops an album and becomes the talk of Compton town, so it was only right that he host an album signing on his home turf for fans in honor of the hip-hop-exalted DAMN. project.
And even though a fan’s creative theory projecting that K-Dot would be dropping a whole follow-up album on Easter Sunday (April 16) turned out disproved, it wasn’t completely inexact after a revealing statement from Kendrick on Instagram Live during the event.
The live footage at the Best Buy album signing shows an ocean of Kendrick fans lined up ready to meet and get their copies of the album penned by the Compton-bred rap mogul. Captured by someone from the TDE entourage, Kendrick is seen in a green hoodie and yellow hat before grabbing the phone to personally thank everyone and drop the new music reveal.
“All my loved ones, I really appreciate y’all. All my kinfolk family, kinfolk clan,” he says. A bit of the audio is vague, considering the amassing of fans and other folks surrounding K-Dot, but you can make out the statement toward the end.
“I got some more music, you dig what I’m saying?” K-Dot says shortly before handing the phone back.
Now that we know Kendrick is heading to the highest of his career with album projections upward of 530,000 units, also the biggest week of 2017 for an album, Billboard points out, there’s no complaint whatsoever if he is planning on dropping some more heat in the near future.
